Ashley Hamer is a journalist and photographer working in Africa and the Middle East. She began as a producer for Channel 4 News UK before moving to Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis and then onwards to the Horn of Africa. 

Ashley publishes work with Al Jazeera English, VICE, IRIN News, Geographical Magazine, British Airways Highlife, Roads & Kingdoms, News Deeply, The Guardian, L'Obs, The Independent and RTE Radio among others. Her NGO clients include Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), ActionAid, Girls' Education South Sudan, Oxfam, World Vision and UNICEF.

Ashley speaks fluent French and Spanish and awful Juba Arabic. She has trained with RISC (battlefield First Aid) and completed two hostile environment HEFAT courses with AKE Group and IWMF

She is available for text, photo and radio assignments worldwide.
